Downtown Annual Tree Lighting Celebration and Concert

Join the Newark Downtown District and the New Jersey Devils at the Downtown Newark Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration at the Prudential Center Championship Plaza, on Tuesday, December 6 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This year's celebration will feature a free concert by R&B sensations Blu Cantrell and Sunshine Anderson, free pictures with Santa including a special holiday gift, a bouncy house, a NJ Devils synthetic ice skating rink, a trackless train, numerous carnival games, children’s characters and Victorian carolers.Known as the one of the largest holiday celebration in New Jersey, last year's event hosted over 3000 New Jerseyans. This year the festivities will begin at 4:00 pm in the Prudential Center Championship Plaza. At 6:00 pm the CEO of the Newark Downtown District, Anthony McMillan; President of New Jersey Devils, Hugh Weber; and Central Ward Councilwoman, Gayle Chaneyfield Jenkins will light the 40-foot-tree. Following the tree lighting, R&B soul singers Blu Cantrell and Sunshine Anderson will perform a free concert for the crowd. The artists are known for R&B hits “Hit ‘Em Up Style” by Blu Cantrell and “Heard It All Before” by Sunshine Anderson.
