Zone A: Pick Up Schedule

(East Ward, South Ward, Central Ward, North Ward)

Monday Collection

  • Household Trash
  • Place trash in a sturdy can with lid or in plastic bags.
  • Bags must be 1.2 mm thick.  (No grocery or shopping bags)
  • Recyclables: Newspapers, magazines, cardboard, cereal boxes and junk mail.  Commingle must be in a blue recycling can and Paper and Cardboard must to flatten and tied

Thursday Collection

  • Household trash
  • Recyclable metal: Soda cans and food cans.
  • Recyclable glass:  Glass jars, food jars and liquor bottles.
  • Recyclable plastic :  Milk jugs, soda bottles, water bottles, juice bottles and laundry detergent containers.  Commingle must be in a blue recycling can and Paper and Cardboard must to flatten and tied

Bulk Collection First Wednesday of Each Month

  • 1st Wednesday of each Month (Only)
  • Bulk is oversized items such as: Furniture, too large for regular trash pick-up. (No renovation, construction debris or electronics will be collected)

Yard Waste Collection 3rd Wednesday of Each Month

  • Includes leaves, small twigs tied in a bundle.

Appliances and White Goods

  • Refrigerator, air conditioners and other large appliances. An appointment is required by calling 973-733-6685

Electronics

Electronics (computers, TV, ect.) can be dropped off at Essex Country Electronic Recycling Depot located at 50 Grafton ave. and 246 Oraton street in Newark. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm and Saturdays 8am to 12:30pm. For more information please call 973-485-9100

Note: Lead acid batteries (household and car) should be dropped off at 62 Frelinghuysen ave. in Newark Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 3pm
