REDEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT

DEFINITION

Under direction, assists in collecting and preparing statistical  and other data for redevelopment programs; does other related  work as required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

  • Collects and prepares statistical and other data pertaining to real estate acquisition, ownership-assessed and valuation estimated costs.
  • Assists in the coordination of statistical information.
  • Performs the clerical work involved in the review of property appraisals.
  • Compares appraisal reports with assessed values of property.
  • May verify completeness and accuracy of information submitted  on forms or documents.
  • Obtains and compiles information necessary for the preparation  of reports.
  • Prepares records and reports.
  • Maintains records and files.
  • May be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.

REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE:

Two (2) years of experience in collecting and compiling information in fields of real estate, public housing, and/or urban renewal work. Clerical experience in any of these areas is considered acceptable.

LICENSE:

Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in NJ only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

KNOWLEDGES AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the methods used to collect and compile information.
  • Knowledge of office methods and practices.
  • Ability to collect and compile information.
  • Ability to prepare reports and other documents.  
  • Ability to maintain records and files.
  • Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or  manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.  American Sign Language or Braille may be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
