Darrell A. Smith, Sr. is the new Office of Information Technology (OIT) Director for the City of Newark. Mr. Smith comes to Newark City government with more than 29 years of experience in IT Project Management and Supervision. Mr. Smith is an innovative IT professional who has transformed technology systems for several organizations, including TROY Systems, Inc., the US Mint, The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, DC Public Schools, and the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (Washington, DC). He holds a Bachelor's degree in sociology from Howard University and Master certificate in IT project management from George Washington University. Mr. Smith is a native New Jerseyan from Elizabeth, NJ and attended Roselle Catholic HS. Mr. Smith is the proud father of two young adults, a grandfather, and a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc..
