Darrell A. Smith, Sr. is a highly accomplished IT professional and the current Director of the Office of Information Technology (OIT) for the City of Newark.  With over 30 years of experience in IT project management and supervision, Mr. Smith has demonstrated a strong ability to lead and innovate within the technology sector.  His career spans multiple high-profile organizations, including TROY Systems, Inc., the US Mint, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, DC Public Schools, and the Office of the Chief Technology Officer in Washington, DC.

Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Howard University and a Master Certificate in IT Project Management from George Washington University.  His educational foundation and extensive professional experience have equipped him with the skills to drive significant technological transformations.

A proud native of New Jersey, Mr. Smith was educated in the New Jersey public school system before graduating from Roselle Catholic High School.  Beyond his professional achievements, he is a dedicated father of two young adults, a grandfather, and a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., reflecting his commitment to family, community, and leadership.
