MAYOR BARAKA, BRONZE SHIELDS, NEWARK PUBLIC SCHOOLS, AND NEW YORK GIANTS TO HOST EDUCATION FORUM

Newark, NJ—May 25, 2018—Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Newark Bronze Shields members, members of the NFL New York Giants football team, Rutgers NCAA Compliance Officer Mary Stadelman, Newark Public Schools Superintendent Roger Leon, Rutgers Men’s Basketball Coach Joe Loughran, Rutgers Men Volleyball Coach Pedro Trevino, and other educators and coaches will host an Educational Forum for Newark high school student-athletes on Wednesday, May 30, at 3 p.m., at the Rutgers Golden Dome. The dome is located at 42 Warren Street in downtown Newark.

At the forum, the mayor and other speakers will discuss the importance of education in life and sports, addressing such topics as academic focus for high school student-athletes, selecting college majors, academic demands of college athletes, sports-related occupations, and life after sports.

Participating students will come from West Side, Barringer, East Side, and University High Schools.
