Newark, NJ—November 22, 2021— Mayor Ras J. Baraka, the Believe in Newark Foundation, HelloFresh, Pepsi, Bindi North America, Inc., The Home Depot of Newark, New Jersey Children’s Foundation, Bimbo Bakeries, Inc., and The Brantley Brothers Transportation Company distributed more than 5,000 free turkeys and additional food products to Newark residents at multiple locations throughout the city’s five wards. Hours of distribution were between noon to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the following 15 sites:
Mayor Baraka attended the giveaway at The Clubhouse, located at 205 Spruce Street.
“These have been challenging times, but through our unity and perseverance, we still have much to be grateful for. I sincerely thank our sponsors for coming together, once again, to share the bounty of this season to our residents along with my wishes for a blessed Thanksgiving,” Mayor Baraka said.
The turkeys were disseminated on a first-come first-served basis at multiple sites around the city.

“Bimbo Bakeries is proud to be donating 400 bags of stuffing and 400 packages of dinner rolls to the Newark Gives Thanks event,” said Donald Strunck, Sales Center Leader for Bimbo Bakeries. “The Mayor’s office does a wonderful job supporting the City of Newark and we at Bimbo are pleased to be part of such a fantastic event.”
